Elizabeth worked with Nigel’s numeracy group and they went on a Measuring expedition! They ventured outside with their iPads. They had to find the tallest object outside the studio…find something three times longer than their feet! Then images were collated using PicCollage.

Wow — your Measuring Expedition sounds AMAZING! I love how you grabbed your iPads and went outside to find the tallest object and something three times longer than your feet. That’s such a clever way to make measurement fun and real.
One of my favourite parts was your photos — it must have been so cool seeing all the different heights and lengths around your studio.
I can’t wait to see what you measure next. Maybe next time you could try estimating first: “I think this tree is about 3 metres tall…” and then check it for real!

Hi Rongo-ma-tane your measuring expedition sounds really fun that’s a really good idea to practice your measuring. What was the tallest thing you could find? Ka pai! By Ted.
